Folks, can security check uncover unauthorized part time work whiles on H1. Will this be reported to USCIS? If so will that be a basis for denial for a green card? Any information or precedence?

You can start working with Company B once you get the receipt of filing. There is no need for you to join company B even after they have filed for your transfer. - you can continue to work with company A.

So let's have premium processing in all stages?
Wonderful, why not this suggestion:
Sell GCs for 30k each, or put up on auction.
30k is achievable goal for everyone if we save money for 6 years straight. Maybe live on bread and water or something but hey, after buying the GC, can get back to living normally!
I think the premium processing idea is just money milking strategies by the respective departments who process the different stages.

I would suggest you to switch to EAD. There is no reason for you stick to H1-B anymore.

In other words, if you are planning to become a british citizen to live there, good luck. But it will not help you with US immigration.

I am a little confused. I just got my H1B extension done recently and my attorney sent me a letter saying that if I go out of the country for stamping I need to make sure my Passport is valid beyond the H1B period.
My passport expires in May 2008 and my current H1 is valid till July 2010. Does anyone see any issues in going for stamping in India in July 2007 with my current passport and later on some time next year applying for a new Indian passport.

You can apply for your new passport a year in advance. It might take a week to 10 days to receive by mail. If you go to the Indian Embassy or Consulate, you can get it the same day. But, you should be ok with the current passport since you have almost a year left on it.:cool:

I want to transfer from H1B to F1.I came to US as a F1 and graduated in march 08.I got my H1B on oct 08.But now i want to transfer to F1 again and i had my visa till 2011. I had following doubts and please help me.
1) I heard that i can transfer to F1 from H1B without canceling(but deactivating H1B) is it true.
2) How much time does it take if i apply for change of status for F1?
3)can i take cpt in F1 and later on can i change to H1 by applying change of status?

I am in a worst scenario , just changed a job couple of months ago. I have labor and I-140 approved from Company A. I have even paid $6000 to company A to sponsor my GC and $5500 for a visa transfer. After joining company B i didn't start labor again. Begging Company A to give an employement letter , they have even cancelled my H1b visa so I can't join them back unless i pay H1b visa transfer fee and a pay-cut. Wondering if it is even worth it ?

As we move closer to an Immigration reform, even government officials agree that such major change is very necessary. Here are some remarks by Secretary Napolitano on Immigration Reform at the Center for American Progress:
Over the past year, as this Administration has pursued more effective strategies within the current laws, the picture of how exactly those laws need to be changed has become clearer than ever before. In the past ten months, we have made tough choices, and implemented significant reforms within the current legal framework�but they are not enough to create the system that we want or that we need. If we are truly going to fix a broken system, Congress will have to act.When it comes to immigration, I took an oath as Secretary of Homeland Security to secure the nation by enforcing the law and managing legal flows across the border. Let me be clear: to do this job as effectively as possible, DHS needs immigration reform.Reform legislation would provide lasting and dedicated resources at our borders, and provide some critical legal tools that we don�t currently have to combat smuggling organizations. For example, we need tougher anti-smuggling laws in dealing with the aggravated crimes smugglers commit�including assaulting law enforcement officers, endangering children, threatening relatives and abandoning people in the desert� hundreds of whom succumb to death from heat and lack of water. We also need to update current laws that don�t cover some of the new means by which criminals conduct their business.
